Thoughts…
It’s always a bit challenging to “find your niche” in any field. When I first embarked on the journey of starting The Pilates Scientist, my initial intention was to focus solely on working with athletes and dancers. I envisioned utilizing my background as a performer (or artistic athlete, as I like to refer to it!) and combining that with my deep love and understanding of biomechanics and physiology to develop a unique and effective training programme tailored specifically for them. Of course, there is nothing inherently stopping me from continuing to pursue this path; however, as I meet more and more diverse clients with varying needs and goals, I am beginning to think that I might be heading in a different direction entirely… Stay tuned to find out what unfolds!
End of the first 6 weeks…
I can’t believe the first 6 week course has finished already!
Where did those 6 weeks go?
Thank you so much to everyone who joined me on the mat. My regulars made such significant progress and it was a joy to watch the progression over the course of the 6 weeks. I also had quite a few drop-ins throughout the weeks. I must admit it felt a little daunting at first as I wasn’t sure how to regulate the class, but I think it went quite well and everyone felt challenged but comfortable!
I’m now looking forward to a week off with my family before classes resume again w/c 17th of June with a BRAND NEW class at 6pm Monday 17th of June!
See you soon!
First classes done!
This week I met my lovely new clients, who have joined me on a 6 week course to strengthen and stretch! The first session is always a bit daunting as it’s a time when you meet new people and find out what works and what doesn’t.
I believe a class plan should be flexible, especially in the first couple of weeks when you’re still getting to know your clients. Of course, I like to have an idea of what I’m going to be doing and what areas we shall be working on, but as with life, you have to go with the flow a little bit! Otherwise you’ll never unlock the true potential. If something isn’t working, move on or try a different variation.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 5 weeks brings…
New Classes!
It’s the 1st of May tomorrow which means classes are starting!
As with anything new, it’s a little daunting at first because you want to get it just right. However, I’m looking forward to seeing everybody in the studio and watching progress being made over the next 6 weeks.
Whether you’re joining just for fun, to socialise or have a specific goal in mind, I’m looking forward to meeting you all and sharing what The Pilates Scientist has to offer!
We all have to start somewhere…
We all have to start somewhere…
I had the idea for The Pilates Scientist before I even trained to be a Pilates teacher! I wanted to create a space where Pilates and science integrated smoothly, where someone could really understand the how and why behind the movement.
I’ve always connected to learning something much easier when I understood the background of it. So with my scientific background, my career in dance and my passion for Pilates, The Pilates Scientist was born!
Hopefully, you will find the information I give insightful and maybe even a little educational - it might even help make a movement really click! Please do check out my social media @thepilatesscientist and I hope to see you on the mat soon.
